Honestly, who doesn’t want to sunbathe in Beare Park at 10am on a weekday?
What you’re looking at is a man who’s got it sorted. Who knows that the house behind him last sold for close to $80 million. Who knows he can get the view and the vibe for free on a park bench.
Sure, he was a little taken aback when he opened his eyes and saw me squatting down in front of him with a camera, but he didn’t let it get to him. Why would he?
Lately I’ve been shooting almost exclusively in Kings Cross and its surrounds (like Elizabeth Bay) with a view to creating a long-term project and maybe a zine. This image came out of that, and so will the other photos I’ll send you in the newsletter this year.
In the meantime, I have some exciting news - I’ll be doing a pop-up exhibition at 2 Brompton St, Marrickville on the 29th of February, and I’d love you to come. The sunbather and his serene energy will be included, and he’ll be available for purchase on the night. Save the date and stay tuned for more details.
